I have big plans for this next year. I am both excited and overwhelmed about where to start. But I am a firm believer in starting wherever you are. Yesterday, that meant having worked in the very early morning, feeling tired from a cold and determined to begin the year off right. So I dragged myself out locally, hoping for one of those winter sunsets I see others shooting. At first, the clouds were promising then they turned menacing. Like a lot of people, there are times I just want what I want. But when pressed about it, I would agree with The Rolling Stones lyrics - ". . . you can't always get what you want. But if you try sometimes you just might find you get what you need." One of the things I love about photography is responding to what I find, deciding how I want to capture the image. It truly is a process of making photographs rather than taking them. It's more difficult and challenging, it pushes me, and it is infinitely more satisfying.
