I am home again, after spending seven wonderful days in Charleston, South Carolina. This scene was one of the biggest reasons I wanted to visit this area. Botany Bay is a preserve area of almost 5,000 acres, along the ocean, made up of marshes, barrier islands and coastal forests. This particular area is known as Boneyard Beach, for the trees that are being 'stranded' in the ocean. It was an amazing place to witness the sunrise and about as isolated as this photograph suggests - I was one of five people that I saw for the four hours I explored there and two of those folks were volunteers working there - one person for every 1,000 acres!
